We are very excited about this buck. We love his dam and his sister sports one of our favorite mammaries in the herd.
His dam, Fiji, is a beautiful doe who combines strength and dairyness. She is long, level and has a very correct mammary system. Excellent udder attachments and ideal teat shape and size. His full sister, Hanalei, is a very productive doe. She isn't the tallest doe but she has other remarkable traits that make her stand out. Her most notable strength is her mammary system. It has received many praises from the judges in the show ring. It is outstanding and we have admired it since she freshened last year as a two-year-old. She has such high rear udder attachment and exceptional fore udder attachment as well. She has a beautiful side profile, exemplifying the 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 that we like to see. Very nicely placed teats with great shape and size. She is one of out top producers and last year peaked at almost 14 lbs on milk test. She can MILK! In addition to her mammary system, we love her depth of body and her openness of ribbing.
Kauai's sire, Top Shelf, is another stellar buck with a packed pedigree. His sire, Wingwood Farm TL Atlas, is proving to be a very productive buck producing lovely daughters who love to milk! He currently ranks in the 97th percentile of the ELITE list. His littermate sister, SG Wingwood Farm TL Aviva, is a gorgeous doe that is a MILKER. As a 3-year-old, she milked 3,680 pounds throughout her lactation and currently sits in the 99th percentile of the ELITE list! Top Shelf's littermate sister, Redwood Hills Atlas Topaz, is an exciting doe who is so smooth and correct and has performed really well. As a 2-year-old first freshener, she appraised 89, finished her championship and went 2nd place/2nd udder at the 2019 ADGA National Show. During her first lactation, she milked almost 3,000 pounds! In 2021, Topaz went on to appraise an excellent score of EX91. We have loved seeing this doe mature! We have several Top Shelf daughters in the herd who haven't freshened yet but are very excited to see udders in the future.
Kauai will see plenty of action this fall and we're anxious to meet his kids next year.
